How to Draw a Stilt House
Draw a stilt house in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the platform.
Step 1: The platform
A little below the middle of your paper draw a long flat box for the platform.
Step 2: The walls
On the platform draw a box for the walls, a little narrower than the platform.
Step 3: The pointed roof
On top draw a big pointed triangle roof, poking out past the walls on both sides.
Tip Stilt houses stand on tall poles so water can flow underneath.
Step 4: Straw lines
Draw 4 slanting lines down the roof from near the peak to the edge, for straw.
Step 5: Door and windows
Draw an arched door in the middle of the walls. Add a square window on each side.
Step 6: 4 tall poles
Under the platform draw 4 tall thin poles going straight down, longer than the walls are tall.
Step 7: The ladder
On the left draw 2 slanting lines. Start each low down and stop at the platform. Add 4 rungs.
Step 8: The water
Draw 3 wavy lines almost edge to edge for water. The top line crosses the bottom of the poles.
Tip Rub out the ends of the poles and the ladder below the top line.
Step 9: The sun
In the top left corner draw a small circle for the sun. Add 8 short rays around it.
Step 10: Yellow sun, tan roof
Go over your lines. Colour the sun yellow and the roof tan like straw.
Step 11: Blue windows, wood walls
Colour the windows sky blue. Colour the walls wood brown, going around the door and windows.
Step 12: Blue water, brown wood
Colour the water blue. Colour the platform, poles and door dark brown. Your stilt house is done!
