How to Draw a Rope Bridge
Draw a rope bridge in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: two cliffs.
Step 1: Two cliffs
Draw a tall cliff on each side: a flat top, a bumpy face towards the middle and a flat bottom.
Step 2: Posts
On each cliff top draw 2 tall thin box posts standing up, one near the edge and one further back.
Step 3: Walkway
Start on the left cliff edge. Draw a sagging smile across the gap, stopping on the right cliff. Add another.
Step 4: Hand rope
Start near the top of the left front post. Draw a long sagging rope across, stopping on the right post.
Step 5: Planks
Across the walkway draw short lines from the top line to the bottom line, one after the other.
Step 6: Rope strings
Start on the hand rope and draw 5 strings straight down, each stopping on the walkway.
Step 7: River below
Draw a wavy line from the left cliff, stopping on the right cliff. Add a ripple and a bottom line.
Tip Keep the river low, far below the bridge.
Step 8: Sun and grass
Draw a round sun with 8 short rays above the bridge. Flick 2 grass blades up from each cliff top.
Step 9: Wooden bridge
Colour the planks and the posts wood brown.
Step 10: Grey cliffs
Colour the cliffs grey, right up to the grassy top.
Step 11: Blue river, yellow sun
Colour the river water blue and the sun yellow. Go over your lines and your rope bridge is done!
