How to Draw a Sticky Bun

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a sticky bun in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a plate.

Print

  1. Step 1: A plate

A little below the middle draw a big flat oval plate, as wide as your hand.

  2. Step 2: Rim and table

Draw a second oval a finger inside the plate for the rim. Add a table line under the plate.

  3. Step 3: The big bun

Left of middle on the plate, draw a wide oval, then a puffy curve under it from end to end.

Tip A sticky bun is rolled dough baked in caramel and pecans.

  4. Step 4: The spiral

On the big bun's top, start near the middle. Curl round once, getting bigger, out to the edge.

  5. Step 5: A smaller bun

Behind it, up to the right, draw a smaller bun the same way, with a spiral from the middle.

  6. Step 6: Pecans

Between the spiral lines draw 3 small oval nuts on the big bun and 1 on the small bun.

  7. Step 7: Nut lines

Draw a short curved line down the middle of each nut.

  8. Step 8: Caramel puddle

Around the buns draw a big wobbly puddle lying flat on the plate, tucked behind both buns.

  9. Step 9: Sky plate

Go over your lines. Colour the plate sky blue, around the buns and the puddle.

  10. Step 10: Tan buns

Colour both buns tan, around the nuts, leaving the spiral lines showing.

  11. Step 11: Caramel and pecans

Colour the puddle ginger and the pecans brown. Done!
