How to Draw a Baked Potato
Draw a baked potato in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the plate.
Step 1: The plate
A little below the middle, draw a big flat oval, wider than your hand. Add a smaller oval inside it.
Step 2: The potato
On the plate draw a big lumpy egg lying on its side, bumpy all the way round.
Tip Lumpy, never a neat egg. Keep its bottom inside the plate.
Step 3: The split
Along the top of the potato draw a long thin eye shape, pointed at both ends. That is the cut.
Step 4: A pat of butter
In the middle of the split draw a square of butter. Add a thin slanted top and side.
Step 5: A melty drip
From the bottom right of the butter draw one little drip hanging down into the split.
Step 6: Sour cream
In the split, right of the butter, draw a soft blob of sour cream like a little cloud.
Step 7: Chives
On the sour cream draw 3 tiny rods for chopped chives, each tilted a different way.
Step 8: Skin specks
Draw 4 tiny ovals on the potato skin, below and beside the split.
Step 9: The table
Draw a table line under the plate from edge to edge, just touching its bottom.
Step 10: Fluffy inside
Colour the inside of the split cream. Leave the sour cream white.
Step 11: Yellow butter, green chives
Colour the butter and its drip yellow, and the chives green.
Step 12: Blue plate
Colour the plate blue outside the rim and sky blue inside it, around the potato.
Step 13: Brown skin
Go over your lines. Colour the potato skin and specks brown, going around the split, butter and sour cream.

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a baked potato, drawn by you.
