How to Draw a Squatting Person

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a squatting person in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and ears.

Print

  1. Step 1: Head and ears

Near the top draw an egg head. Add a C ear on each side, starting and stopping on the head.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and the bent legs.

  2. Step 2: The face

Draw 2 big eyes in the middle with dots and shines. Add a U nose, a smile and 2 eyebrows.

  3. Step 3: Tufty hair

Start above the left ear. Draw soft tufts over the top, stop above the right ear. Add a hairline curve.

Tip Soft round tufts, the middle ones tallest.

  4. Step 4: Neck and T-shirt

Draw 2 neck lines under the chin. From the left one, draw a short-sleeved T-shirt ending at the right one.

  5. Step 5: Arms

From each sleeve draw 2 lines down and a little out. Stop level with the bottom of the T-shirt.

Tip The arms bend out at the elbow and get thinner.

  6. Step 6: Mitten hands

From one side of each wrist draw a round mitten with a thumb pointing in. Stop at the other side.

  7. Step 7: Bent knees

Start at the T-shirt's corner. Go out behind the hand, round the knee, then slant back in to the ankle.

Tip The knees point out to the sides. That is what makes it a squat.

  8. Step 8: Inside of the legs

Start at the left ankle. Go across, up to the knee fold, then up to the middle. Mirror it.

Tip The 2 sides meet under the middle of the T-shirt.

  9. Step 9: Shoes and ground

Under each ankle draw a shoe with a long toe pointing out. Add a long ground line under the shoes.

  10. Step 10: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour 2 pink cheeks. Colour the face, ears, neck, arms and hands peach around them. Leave the eyes white.

  11. Step 11: Orange shirt, blue trousers

Colour the T-shirt orange. Colour the trousers blue, around the hands.

  12. Step 12: Brown hair and shoes

Colour the hair and the shoes brown. Go over your lines and your squatting kid is done.
