How to Draw a Jester

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a jester in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper, in the middle, draw an egg for the head, narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.

  2. Step 2: The face

Below the middle of the head draw 2 small oval eyes. Add a tiny U nose and a big smile.

  3. Step 3: Jester hat

Draw a cap above the eyes. Grow 3 floppy points out of it, with a bell on each tip.

  4. Step 4: Neck and tunic

Draw 2 neck lines. From the left one draw a tunic to the waist, stopping at the right one.

  5. Step 5: Ruffle collar

Round the neck draw a ruffle collar: a wavy line on top and 5 fat bumps along the bottom.

  6. Step 6: Diamonds

Draw 3 diamond shapes on the tunic: 2 side by side on the chest and 1 below in the middle.

  7. Step 7: Long sleeves

From each shoulder and armpit draw a sleeve down to the wrist, bending softly at the elbow. Add a cuff.

  8. Step 8: Mitten hands

Under each sleeve draw a mitten: round at the bottom like an egg, with a little thumb bump pointing in.

  9. Step 9: Tights

Start at the tunic's bottom left. Draw the tights: down, across, up between the legs, back to the top.

  10. Step 10: Pointy shoes and ground

Under each leg draw a shoe with a long pointy toe curling up. Draw a ground line under the shoes.

  11. Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the cheeks pink, then the face, neck and hands peach around them. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Yellow, then purple

Colour the side points, bells and diamonds yellow. Colour the cap, middle point and tunic purple, around the diamonds.

Tip Leave the ruffle collar white.

  13. Step 13: Red sleeves and tights

Colour the sleeves, the tights and the pointy shoes red. Go over your lines and your jester is done.
