How to Draw a Sponge

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a sponge in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the front.

Print

  1. Step 1: The front

Low on your paper draw a wide box with soft bottom corners, half as wide as the paper.

  2. Step 2: Top and side

Add a slanted top above the front and a slanted side on the right, like a tissue box.

  3. Step 3: 2 big eyes

On the front draw 2 big egg eyes, one eye apart. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a shine.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a U smile. Add a small flat oval cheek beside each end of the smile.

  5. Step 5: Scrubby layer

Just below the top draw a line across the front and one up the side, for the thin scrubby layer.

  6. Step 6: Holes

Draw 5 little oval holes on the front: 1 near each corner and 1 under the smile.

  7. Step 7: Bubbles

Above the sponge draw 3 soap bubbles, big to small. Add a little shine curve in the 2 big ones.

  8. Step 8: The table

Draw a long table line under the sponge, just touching its bottom and past it on both sides.

  9. Step 9: Yellow sponge

Go over your lines. Colour the sponge yellow under the scrubby line, leaving the eyes, cheeks and holes white.

  10. Step 10: Pink and orange

Colour the cheeks pink and the little holes orange.

  11. Step 11: Green scrubber

Colour the top and the thin layer above the line green, and your sponge is ready to scrub!
