How to Draw a Cupid’s Bow

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a cupid’s bow in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bow.

Print

  1. Step 1: The bow

Start near the top. Draw a tall curvy line like a number 3, bulging right twice, down to the bottom.

Tip Make the top half and the bottom half match.

  2. Step 2: Thick bow

Start at the top tip. Draw a second curvy line just inside the first and stop at the bottom tip.

Tip Leave the widest gap in the middle and almost none at the tips.

  3. Step 3: The string

Start at the top tip. Draw a straight line to a point far left, then back to the bottom tip.

Tip Put the point level with the middle of the bow.

  4. Step 4: The grip

Around the middle of the bow draw a small soft box, the hand grip. Rub out the lines inside it.

  5. Step 5: Arrow shaft

Start at the string's point. Draw 2 long lines close together, behind the grip, and stop well past the bow.

Tip Use a ruler if you like. Skip over the grip.

  6. Step 6: Heart tip

On the right end draw a heart lying on its side, its point aiming away from the bow.

Tip Make the 2 round bumps the same size.

  7. Step 7: The notch

On the left end draw a little notch with 2 points, from the top line to the bottom line.

  8. Step 8: Top feather

Near the notch draw a feather on top of the shaft, low at the front, tall at the back.

Tip Keep the feather clear of the string.

  9. Step 9: Bottom feather

Draw the same feather under the shaft, a mirror of the first.

  10. Step 10: Feather lines

Inside each feather draw 3 short slanted lines from the shaft out to the feather's edge.

  11. Step 11: Yellow bow, tan shaft

Go over your lines. Colour the bow yellow, above and below the grip, and the arrow shaft tan.

  12. Step 12: Pink feathers

    Colour the 2 feathers pink.

  13. Step 13: Red heart and grip

Colour the heart tip and the hand grip red. Your Cupid's bow is done!
