How to Draw a Cape
Draw a cape in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cape.
Step 1: The cape
From the bottom left, draw up round a shoulder to the top middle, then down to the bottom right.
Tip Keep the shoulders narrow and let the sides spread out wide, like a bell.
Step 2: Wavy hem
Start at the bottom left corner. Draw 5 soft bumps across to the bottom right corner.
Step 3: Pointy collar
From the top middle, draw 2 pointy collar flaps flaring up and out, each back down onto a shoulder.
Step 4: Back of the collar
Start at the left collar point and draw a gentle curve, dipping a little, over to the right point.
Step 5: Round clasp
Where the 2 collar flaps meet, draw a round clasp to hold the cape on.
Step 6: Swishy folds
Start at the outer dips in the hem. Draw 2 long gentle lines up, stopping under the shoulders.
Step 7: A big star
In the middle of the cape, draw a big 5-point star, zigzagging out to points and in to dips.
Step 8: Yellow star and clasp
Colour the big star and the round clasp yellow.
Step 9: Red cape
Colour the whole cape and both collar flaps red, going around the star and the clasp.
Step 10: Inside the collar
Colour the inside of the collar, between the flaps, blue. Go over your lines and your cape is ready!
