How to Draw a Fathers Day Card

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a fathers day card in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the card front.

Print

  1. Step 1: The card front

In the middle of your paper draw a tall box standing up for the front of the card.

  2. Step 2: The folded back

From the top right corner slant a short line up, a long line down, and stop at the bottom corner.

Tip This thin page is the back of the card, folded open.

  3. Step 3: The tie knot

In the middle of the card draw a small box, a little wider at the top. This is the knot.

Tip Keep the knot small: the tie hangs from it.

  4. Step 4: The tie

Start at the knot's bottom corners. Draw 2 lines down, getting wider, and stop at a V point.

Tip Leave room under the point: the tie stops above the bottom of the card.

  5. Step 5: The collar

On each side of the knot draw a pointed collar flap, like a triangle tipping down.

  6. Step 6: Tie stripes

Draw 2 slanted stripes across the tie, each made of 2 lines from one edge to the other.

  7. Step 7: Write DAD

Above the collar write DAD in big letters. Start with a D, then an A, and stop after the last D.

Tip Make the 3 letters the same height.

  8. Step 8: Two hearts

Draw a little heart on each side of the tie, near the bottom.

Tip A heart is 2 bumps on top and a point at the bottom.

  9. Step 9: The ground

Draw a long ground line under the card, from the left of your paper to the right.

Tip The card stands on this line.

  10. Step 10: Cream card

Go over your lines. Colour the card cream around the tie, collar and hearts. Colour the folded back sand.

Tip Leave the collar white, like a clean shirt.

  11. Step 11: Yellow stripes, red hearts

Colour the 2 stripes on the tie yellow and the 2 hearts red.

  12. Step 12: Blue tie

Colour the knot and the tie blue around the stripes. Your Father's Day card is done!
