18 steps · Tricky · about 14 min

Draw a splash pad in 18 steps, about 14 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pad.

Print

  1. Step 1: The pad

Low on your paper, draw a big flat oval for the splash pad, almost as wide as the page.

Tip A splash pad is flat ground with holes that squirt water up.

  2. Step 2: Water holes

On the pad draw 3 small flat ovals: one near the back in the middle and one near each end.

  3. Step 3: The middle fountain

From the middle hole draw a tall water jet. At the top, curve it over and down to 2 points.

  4. Step 4: Two side fountains

From each end hole draw a shorter jet the same way, curving over and down to 2 points.

  5. Step 5: Falling drops

Under each water point draw a drop with its point up. Add a second, smaller drop under the middle ones.

  6. Step 6: A kid's head

Between the left and middle fountains, draw an egg head with a cap of hair on top.

  7. Step 7: The face

Draw 2 dot eyes with a tiny white shine, and a smile from under one eye to the other.

  8. Step 8: T-shirt

Under the chin draw a T-shirt with short sleeves, a little wider than the head.

  9. Step 9: Arms and hands

From each sleeve draw an arm hanging down and a little out, getting thinner, with a round mitten hand.

  10. Step 10: Shorts

Under the T-shirt draw shorts with a little point between the legs.

  11. Step 11: Legs and shoes

Under the shorts draw 2 short legs, and a round shoe on each foot with the toe pointing out.

  12. Step 12: The sun

In the top right corner draw a small round sun with 8 short rays.

  13. Step 13: Yellow sun and shirt

Colour the sun and the kid's T-shirt yellow.

  14. Step 14: Peach skin

Colour the face, the arms, the hands and the legs peach. Leave the eye shines white.

  15. Step 15: Sky blue water

Colour the 3 fountains, the holes and all the drops pale sky blue.

  16. Step 16: Grey pad

Colour the pad grey, going around the water holes, the fountains and the kid.

  17. Step 17: Red shorts and shoes

Colour the shorts and the shoes red.

  18. Step 18: Brown hair

Colour the hair brown. Go over your lines and your splash pad is done!
