How to Draw Buckingham Palace

13 steps · Tricky · about 10 min

Draw Buckingham Palace in 13 steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long front.

Print

  1. Step 1: Long front

Across the middle, draw a very long low box for the palace front.

  2. Step 2: Middle block

In the middle, draw a taller box standing in front, poking up past the roof of the long box.

  3. Step 3: Two ledges

Draw a thin ledge on top of the long box, poking out each end. Add one on the middle block.

  4. Step 4: Four columns

On the middle block, draw 4 tall thin columns from the ground up to the long ledge, 2 each side.

  5. Step 5: Famous balcony

Between the middle columns, draw a tall arched window. Under it, draw a long flat balcony box with railing posts.

  6. Step 6: The gateway

Under the balcony, draw a big arched gateway standing on the bottom line, like a rainbow door.

  7. Step 7: Rows of windows

On each wing, draw 3 tall windows up high, and 2 low windows with a wide gap between.

  8. Step 8: Two guards

Between the low windows on each wing, draw a guard: tall furry hat, round face, coat with arms, 2 legs.

Tip Give each guard 2 dot eyes and a little smile, and leave a gap between the 2 legs.

  9. Step 9: Flag and ground

Start on the top ledge. Draw a tall pole up to a knob. Add a flag and the ground line.

  10. Step 10: Cream palace, peach faces

Colour the palace walls cream, going around the windows, columns, balcony, gateway and guards. Colour the faces peach.

  11. Step 11: Stone ledges and balcony

Colour the 2 ledges, the columns, the balcony box and the flagpole knob stone grey.

  12. Step 12: Sky windows, red coats

Colour all the windows sky blue. Colour the flag and the guards' coats red.

  13. Step 13: Dark gateway, black hats

Colour the gateway inside navy, and the guards' hats and trousers black. Go over your lines and you are done!
