How to Draw a Spiral
Draw a spiral in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a spiral line.
Step 1: A spiral line
Start at a dot in the middle. Curl a line round and round like a snail, stopping on the right.
Tip Keep the gap between the turns even.
Step 2: A fat ribbon
From the line's end draw a round cap. Follow the line back round to the dot, a finger outside it.
Tip The 2 lines never touch except at the dot.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the fat band at the top draw 2 big egg eyes. Add a black dot and shine in each.
Step 4: A smile
Under the eyes draw a U smile, from under one eye to under the other.
Step 5: Rosy cheeks
Beside each end of the smile draw 1 tiny sideways oval for a rosy cheek.
Step 6: Sparkles on the left
On the left of the spiral draw 2 sparkle stars, one higher and one lower.
Step 7: Sparkles on the right
Draw 2 more sparkle stars on the right to match.
Step 8: The floor
Under the spiral draw a long floor line from far left to far right, just touching its bottom.
Step 9: Pink cheeks
Colour the 2 cheeks rosy pink.
Step 10: Yellow sparkles
Colour the 4 sparkles yellow.
Step 11: Orange spiral
Go over your lines and colour the whole ribbon orange, around the pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a spiral, drawn by you.
