How to Draw an Ohio Map
Draw an ohio map in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top edge.
Step 1: The top edge
Start near the top left. Draw a straight line to the right. Stop a third of the way across.
Tip Leave a little room above this line for the lake.
Step 2: The lake shore
Carry on from there. Draw a line slanting down to the right. Stop in a dip.
Step 3: More lake shore
Carry on from the dip. Go right, then climb up to the right. Stop at a high corner.
Tip The right corner sits higher than the left one.
Step 4: The right side
Carry on from the corner. Draw a straight line down. Stop a third of the way down.
Step 5: The river bank
Carry on from there. Wiggle a long line down, slanting to the left. Stop there.
Tip All of this wiggly edge is one big river, the Ohio.
Step 6: The bottom point
Carry on from there. Go left a little, then curve down to the lowest point.
Step 7: Along the river
From the lowest point, wiggle a line up and to the left. Stop under the start of your first line.
Step 8: The left side
Carry on from there. Draw a long straight line up. Join the start of your top line.
Tip Use a ruler if you like. This edge is perfectly straight.
Step 9: The big lake
From each end of the lake shore, draw a line up to the top of your paper, leaning right.
Tip This is Lake Erie. It runs off the top of your paper.
Step 10: The capital star
In the middle of the state, draw a star for the capital city, Columbus.
Tip On a map, a star shows the capital city.
Step 11: Blue lake
Go over your lines. Colour the lake light blue, up to the top of the paper.
Step 12: Green land
Colour all of the land green, around the star.
Step 13: Red star
Colour the star red. Your map of Ohio is done!
