How to Draw a Spelling Bee
Draw a spelling bee in 12 steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper, left of middle, draw an egg for the head, narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave room on the right for the microphone stand.
Step 2: The face
Draw 2 round eyes with black dots and lash flicks, a tiny nose and a black open smile.
Step 3: Hair and fringe
Start on the left above the eyes. Draw hair over the top, down to the right, then a fringe across.
Step 4: Neck and dress
Under the chin draw 2 neck lines. From the left one draw a short-sleeved dress round to the right one.
Step 5: Arms
Bend each arm out from the sleeve to an elbow and back in to the waist.
Step 6: Hands
On each wrist draw a fist like a fat egg, with a thumb bump and a curved finger line.
Step 7: Microphone stand
Start a pole on a flat base, up to the shoulders. Add a boom and a round microphone.
Tip Put it on the right, and give the round microphone criss-cross lines beside the chin.
Step 8: Floating letters
Round the head draw 4 letters spelling BEAR: B top left, E top right, A and R lower down.
Tip The letters float in the empty corners, never touching the head.
Step 9: Legs, shoes and ground
Draw 2 legs from the hem, stopping above the ground. Add a shoe under each, then a long ground line.
Step 10: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, neck, arms, hands and legs peach, with a pink circle on each cheek. Go over your lines!
Tip Keep the eyes white.
Step 11: Grey microphone, red shoes
Colour the microphone and its base grey and the shoes red.
Step 12: Purple dress, brown hair
Colour the dress purple around the arms, and the hair brown.
