How to Draw Jumping in Puddles

11 steps · Tricky · about 8 min

Draw jumping in puddles in 11 steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of the paper draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip A little higher than usual: the kid is jumping, feet off the ground.

  2. Step 2: The face

Draw 2 big oval eyes with a shine, a small U nose and a wide smile.

  3. Step 3: Hood

Draw a big round hood all the way round the head, wider than the head and closing under the chin.

Tip Leave a thick band of hood over the top of the head. The face shows inside.

  4. Step 4: Raincoat

Under the hood draw a raincoat with round shoulders, widening to a hem at the knees. Add 3 buttons.

Tip Draw a line down the middle with the buttons beside it.

  5. Step 5: Long sleeves

From each shoulder draw a long sleeve out to the side, bending at the elbow, stopping at the wrist.

Tip Both arms fly out and up for balance.

  6. Step 6: Hands

On each wrist draw a round fist pointing out, with a short curved line across it for the fingers.

  7. Step 7: Legs and boots

From the hem draw 2 short legs, left kicking out, right straight down, stopping at a tall boot each.

Tip Mid-jump: the left boot is up in the air, the right is splashing down.

  8. Step 8: Puddle and splashes

Under the boots draw a flat oval puddle, behind the right boot. Add 5 teardrop drops and 2 splash lines.

Tip The boots are just landing, so the water splashes up.

  9. Step 9: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the face, hands and legs peach, with a pink circle on each cheek. Leave the eyes white.

  10. Step 10: Yellow raincoat and hood

Colour the raincoat, its sleeves and the hood yellow.

  11. Step 11: Red boots, blue puddle

Colour the boots red, and the puddle and the drops blue. Go over your lines.
