How to Draw a Spanish Mission

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a spanish mission in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the church front.

Print

  1. Step 1: The church front

Near the middle draw a tall box. On top draw a big rainbow hump, leaving a flat shoulder each side.

Tip Start the box a little below the middle of your paper.

  2. Step 2: The bell tower

On the left draw a taller, thinner box joined to the church, standing on the same ground.

Tip Make the tower about two thirds as wide as the church.

  3. Step 3: The long hall

On the right draw a long, low box joined to the church, lower than the church's shoulders.

  4. Step 4: Tower dome

On the tower draw a flat band a little wider than the box, then a round dome on top.

Tip The dome is half a circle, a little narrower than the band.

  5. Step 5: Tile roof

On the hall draw a roof band with 7 small bumps along the bottom. Add 6 tile lines.

Tip Each line runs from the top of the roof down to a dip between 2 bumps.

  6. Step 6: Door and window

Draw a tall round-topped door in the church, with a line down its middle. Add a round window above.

  7. Step 7: The bell arch

High on the tower draw an arch window: 2 sides, a round top and a flat bottom.

  8. Step 8: The bell

From the top of the arch draw a short line down. Hang a bell on it. Add a dot below.

Tip Leave a little space all round the bell so it can swing.

  9. Step 9: Hall arches

In the hall wall draw 3 arches side by side, standing on the ground.

Tip Keep the 3 arches the same size, with a gap between them.

  10. Step 10: Two crosses

On top of the dome draw a small cross. Draw another on top of the hump.

  11. Step 11: The ground

Start at the left edge of your paper. Draw a straight ground line under the mission to the right edge.

  12. Step 12: Cream walls

Colour all the walls cream, around the door and the arches. Colour the round window sky blue.

  13. Step 13: Yellow bell, red roofs

Colour the bell yellow. Then colour the tile roof and the tower dome red.

  14. Step 14: Door and arches

Colour the door brown. Colour the bell arch and the 3 hall arches dark grey. Your mission is done!
