How to Draw a Cathedral
Draw a cathedral in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the roof.
Step 1: The roof
Above the middle of your paper, draw a wide pointy roof with soft corners.
Step 2: The walls
Start under the roof, in from its left corner. Draw a box down, across and back up to the roof.
Step 3: 2 tall towers
At each roof end, draw a tall thin tower from the wall bottom up past the roof and back down.
Step 4: Pointed spires
On each tower draw a tall pointed spire like a thin triangle. Add a thin flat ledge under each spire.
Step 5: 2 crosses
Start on each spire point. Draw a short line up, stop near the top, and add a tiny line across.
Step 6: The doors
Draw a tall rainbow-top door in the middle of the wall, just above the bottom. Split it down the middle.
Step 7: Step and ground
Start left of the door. Draw a low step under the door, stopping on the right. Add ground and grass.
Step 8: Arched windows
Beside each door draw a tall arched window with a plus inside. Add a little one in each tower.
Step 9: The rose window
Above the doors draw a big round window in the roof. Give it 8 spokes, like a flower.
Step 10: Bushes
Draw a bumpy dome bush at the bottom of each tower, sitting on the ground.
Step 11: Cream walls and towers
Colour the walls and both towers cream.
Step 12: Blue windows, green bushes
Colour all the windows sky blue and the bushes green.
Step 13: Grey roof, wooden doors
Colour the roof, spires, ledges and step grey, around the round window, and the doors wood brown. All done!
