How to Draw an Outhouse

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw an outhouse in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pointed roof.

Print

  1. Step 1: The pointed roof

Near the top draw a big upside-down V. Draw a second V just under it and join the ends.

Tip Make both sides the same length so the roof sits straight.

  2. Step 2: Tall walls

Start under the roof's left side. Draw a wall down, across the bottom and up to the roof again.

  3. Step 3: The door

In the middle of the wall draw a tall door with a flat top, standing on the bottom line.

  4. Step 4: Moon window

High on the door draw a crescent moon, like a banana standing up with 2 sharp tips.

Tip Old outhouse doors have a moon cut out to let in light and air.

  5. Step 5: Hinges and knob

On the door's left edge draw 2 short flat hinges. Add a small round knob on the right.

  6. Step 6: Wall boards

Draw board lines down the walls: 1 on each side of the door and 5 above it.

  7. Step 7: Ground and grass

Draw a ground line out from each bottom corner. Add 3 blades of grass on each side.

  8. Step 8: Yellow moon

Colour the moon yellow, and the 2 hinges and the knob grey.

  9. Step 9: Wooden walls

Colour the walls light brown, all the way up to the roof. Go around the door.

  10. Step 10: Brown door

Colour the door dark brown, around the moon, the hinges and the knob.

  11. Step 11: Red roof

Go over your lines, then colour the roof red. Your outhouse is done!
