How to Draw a Pergola

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a pergola in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the front beam.

Print

  1. Step 1: The front beam

Above the middle draw a long thin box across the page for the front beam.

  2. Step 2: Front posts

Start under the beam near each end. Draw 2 tall posts down and stop near the bottom.

  3. Step 3: Three roof boards

Standing on the beam's left half, draw 3 thin boards slanting up to the right, all the same.

Tip Keep the boards the same length and the same slant, like a ladder lying down.

  4. Step 4: Three more boards

Draw 3 more slanting boards along the right half of the beam, spaced the same.

  5. Step 5: The back beam

Draw a second long beam behind the boards, near their tops. It peeks out between them.

  6. Step 6: Back posts

Start under the back beam. Draw 2 posts down, hidden behind the front beam. Stop above the front posts' feet.

  7. Step 7: The patio

Draw a slanted floor around the feet of all 4 posts: flat front and back, slanting sides.

  8. Step 8: Grey patio

Colour the patio floor light grey. Go around the feet of the 4 posts.

  9. Step 9: Light roof boards

Colour the 6 slanting roof boards a light sandy brown.

  10. Step 10: Wooden beams

Colour the 2 long beams wood brown. The back beam shows between the boards.

  11. Step 11: Brown posts

Go over your lines, then colour the 4 posts dark brown. Your pergola is done!
