How to Draw a Space Capsule
Draw a space capsule in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: gumdrop capsule.
Step 1: Gumdrop capsule
In the lower half of your paper draw a gumdrop: a flat top, sides sloping out, a wide flat bottom.
Step 2: Round window
In the middle of the capsule draw a big round window.
Step 3: Friendly face
Inside the window draw 2 round eyes with black dots and white shines, a small smile and 2 little cheeks.
Step 4: Heat shield
Under the wide bottom draw a shallow bowl shape, a little wider than the capsule.
Step 5: Hatch cap
On the flat top draw a small box for the top hatch.
Step 6: Dots and seam
Draw a curved seam line across the capsule near the bottom, and 3 tiny round dots.
Step 7: Parachute
High above the capsule draw a big parachute: a wide rainbow dome with 4 little bumps along the bottom.
Step 8: Panels and cords
Draw 2 curved lines from the inner points up to the top. Hang 4 cords down to the hatch.
Step 9: Stars
Draw 4 little sparkle stars in the sky around the capsule.
Step 10: White capsule, grey shield
Colour the capsule and the hatch white and the heat shield grey.
Step 11: Pink cheeks, sky window
Colour the cheeks pink, then the window sky blue around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Orange parachute, yellow stars
Colour the parachute orange with a white middle panel, and the stars yellow. Go over your lines.
