How to Draw a School Bus

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a school bus in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: loaf top.

Print

  1. Step 1: Loaf top

Start low on the left. Go up, along a long flat roof, down the back. Stop level with the start.

Tip An upside-down U, more than twice as long as tall. The front corner is the roundest.

  2. Step 2: Floor and wheel bumps

Start at the bottom of the front. Draw the floor with 2 rainbow bumps. Stop at the back wall.

  3. Step 3: Eye and smile

Near the front, draw a headlight eye with a black dot. Add a smile under it, clear of the edge.

  4. Step 4: Bumper and tyres

Draw a round bumper on the front corner. Under each bump, draw a tyre that fits snugly inside it.

Tip Each tyre is about a third as tall as the bus.

  5. Step 5: Windows

Draw a big windscreen in the front corner. Behind it, draw 6 tall windows in a row, a finger apart.

  6. Step 6: Straight stripe

Start at the front, just under the windows. Draw a straight line along the bus. Stop at the back.

  7. Step 7: The door

Start at the stripe between the tyres. Draw 2 door lines down to the floor, with a handle between.

  8. Step 8: Stop sign

Behind the eye, under the stripe, draw a small 8-sided stop sign.

  9. Step 9: Roof and tail lights

Draw 2 little light bumps starting and ending on the roof. Add a tall tail light at the back.

  10. Step 10: Hubcaps

In each tyre, draw a smaller hubcap circle with a dot in the middle.

  11. Step 11: The road

Start left of the bus. Draw a straight road line under both tyres, touching their bottoms, to the right.

  12. Step 12: Yellow bus

Colour the bus yellow, going around the windows, lights, sign and wheels. Leave the eye and bumper white.

  13. Step 13: Sky windows

Colour the windscreen and the 6 windows sky blue, leaving a little shine white.

  14. Step 14: Red lights, black tyres

Colour the stop sign and the roof and tail lights red. Colour the tyres black around the hubcaps.
