How to Draw a Double-Decker Bus

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a double-decker bus in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: tall loaf.

Print

  1. Step 1: Tall loaf

Start low on the left. Go up, along a long flat roof, down the back. Stop level with the start.

Tip A tall upside-down U, nearly as tall as it is long: 2 floors.

  2. Step 2: Floor and wheel bumps

Start at the bottom of the front. Draw the floor back with 2 rainbow bumps, up to the back wall.

  3. Step 3: Headlight eye

Low on the front, draw a big round headlight eye with a black dot and shines. Leave it white.

  4. Step 4: Smile and bumper

Under the eye, draw a smile from near the front to past the eye. Add a front bumper below.

  5. Step 5: Two fat tyres

Under each bump, draw a big circle for a tyre. Let its top follow the bump, with no gap.

  6. Step 6: Big windscreen

Start a finger in from the front, above the headlight. Draw a window following the corner, back to the start.

  7. Step 7: Two side windows

A finger behind the windscreen, draw a chunky rounded window as tall as it. Add a longer one behind.

Tip Two big windows, not lots of little ones.

  8. Step 8: Upstairs windows

Above the windscreen, draw a second front window following the roof. Add 2 more upstairs windows above the downstairs ones.

Tip Keep a finger of body between the 2 rows: that is the floor.

  9. Step 9: Deck line and trim

Start at the back under the upstairs windows. Rule a line across to the front. Same under the downstairs windows.

  10. Step 10: Doors and tail light

Between the tyres, draw 2 door lines from the trim down to the floor. Add a handle and tail light.

  11. Step 11: Hubcaps and road

Add a hubcap circle in each tyre. Then draw a long straight road line under both tyres, touching their bottoms.

  12. Step 12: Sky windows, yellow light

Colour all the windows sky blue, leaving a little shine white. Colour the tail light yellow.

  13. Step 13: Red bus, black tyres

Colour the bus red, around the windows and lights. Colour the tyres black. Leave the bumper, handle and hubcaps white.
