How to Draw a Soldier

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a soldier in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper, in the middle, draw an egg head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.

  2. Step 2: The face

Below the middle of the head draw 2 eyes with dots and shines. Add a U nose and a smile.

  3. Step 3: Helmet

Draw a brim band over the forehead. From its left end draw a dome over to its right end.

Tip The helmet sits over the forehead like a bowl.

  4. Step 4: Chin strap

From under the brim at each side of the face, draw a strap down inside the cheek to the chin.

  5. Step 5: Neck and jacket

Draw 2 neck lines under the chin. From the left one draw a round-shouldered jacket back to the right one.

  6. Step 6: Pockets and buttons

Draw a small pocket box on each side of the chest, and 2 button circles down the middle.

  7. Step 7: Long sleeves

From each shoulder and armpit draw a sleeve line down to the wrist, closer together at the bottom.

  8. Step 8: Mitten hands

At the bottom of each arm draw a round mitten, with a little thumb bump pointing in toward the body.

  9. Step 9: Belt and trousers

Draw a belt band and buckle across the jacket bottom. From its ends draw trouser legs down to the ankles.

  10. Step 10: Boots and ground

Under each leg draw a tall boot, toe pointing out, with a heel block. Add a ground line below.

  11. Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the face, neck and hands peach, with pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Green uniform

Colour the pockets light green. Colour the jacket green around them, then the sleeves, trousers and helmet.

  13. Step 13: Brown belt and boots

Colour the belt, buckle and boots brown. Go over your lines and your soldier is done.
