How to Draw a Potter
Draw a potter in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top, in the middle, draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.
Step 2: The face
Draw 2 oval eyes, a tiny nose and a smile. Start a C ear each side, stopping on the head.
Step 3: Headscarf
Start by the left eyebrow. Draw the scarf over the head, down to the right. Add a knot with tails.
Step 4: Neck and shirt
Draw 2 short neck lines. From the left one, draw a shirt with short sleeves, stopping at the right one.
Step 5: Apron
Draw an apron: a bib on the chest, wide from the waist down past the knees, with 2 neck straps.
Step 6: Bent arms
From each sleeve, draw the arm down, then curving in across the tummy, stopping at the wrist.
Step 7: Mitten hands
On each arm end, draw a mitten pointing in, with a little thumb bump. Leave a gap between the hands.
Step 8: Clay vase
Between the hands, draw a tall vase: flat rim, narrow neck, round belly behind the mittens. Add 2 ring lines.
Step 9: Clay smudges
On the apron below the vase, draw 2 small blobs for clay smudges, one low on each side.
Step 10: Trousers, shoes and ground
Start at the hem's left end. Draw 2 trouser legs, stopping at the right. Add shoes and a ground line.
Step 11: Cream apron, green shirt
Colour the apron cream and the shirt green.
Step 12: Tan vase, red headscarf
Colour the vase, the smudges and the trousers tan. Colour the headscarf and the shoes red.
Step 13: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, ears, neck, arms and hands peach, with pink cheeks. Go over your lines and you're done.
Tip Keep the eyes white.
