How to Draw a Knight

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a knight in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body.

  2. Step 2: The face

Draw 2 big round eyes across the middle of the head. Add a tiny U nose and a smile.

  3. Step 3: Knight's helmet

Start below the left cheek. Draw a pointed helmet over to the right cheek, then back round the face.

Tip Rub out the head lines inside the helmet.

  4. Step 4: Plume

From the tip of the helmet draw a feather plume sweeping left to a point, then back to the helmet.

  5. Step 5: Neck and tunic

Draw neck lines under the chin. From the left one draw a short-sleeved tunic over to the right one.

  6. Step 6: Tunic cross

In the middle of the tunic draw a cross, a short line down and a short line across.

  7. Step 7: Chain-mail sleeves

From each sleeve draw 2 lines down to the wrist, getting thinner, with a soft bend at the elbow.

  8. Step 8: Gloves

On each wrist draw a glove with a wide cuff and a thumb. Add a line across the cuff.

  9. Step 9: Shield

Over the left arm draw a shield: flat top, straight sides, a point at the bottom. Add a cross.

  10. Step 10: Legs

From the hem draw 2 lines for each leg, closer at the bottom. Stop where the boots begin.

  11. Step 11: Boots and ground

Under each leg draw a tall boot with the toe pointing out. Draw a ground line under the boots.

  12. Step 12: Peach face, yellow shield

Colour the face and neck peach and the shield yellow. Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Red plume, blue tunic

Colour the plume red and the tunic blue.

  14. Step 14: Grey armour, brown boots

Colour the helmet grey around the face, then the sleeves, gloves and legs. Colour the boots brown.
