How to Draw a King

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a king in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper, draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the long robe.

  2. Step 2: The face

Below the middle, draw 2 oval eyes with black dots, a U nose, a smile and 2 cheek ovals.

  3. Step 3: Beard and moustache

Draw a soft moustache between the nose and smile. Add a big U beard from cheek to cheek.

  4. Step 4: A golden crown

Draw a zigzag crown across the top of the head, side to side. Add a tiny ball on each point.

  5. Step 5: The long robe

Start at one side of the beard and draw a long robe with short sleeves, ending at the other side.

Tip The hem is wide and near the bottom of the page.

  6. Step 6: Long sleeves

From each short sleeve, draw 2 lines down to the wrist, getting narrower. Add a cuff curve at the wrist.

  7. Step 7: Mitten hands

Under each arm, draw a mitten hand like the bottom of an egg. Add a little thumb pointing in.

  8. Step 8: Belt and buckle

Draw a square buckle at the waist. Add a belt band: 2 lines from the buckle to the robe sides.

  9. Step 9: Sceptre

Start below the right hand. Draw a stick up behind the fist, leaning out. Stop at a round ball.

  10. Step 10: Shoes and ground

Under the robe, draw 2 shoes peeking out with toes pointing out. Draw a long ground line under them.

  11. Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the face and hands peach around the cheeks, then colour the cheeks pink. Leave the eyes and beard white.

  12. Step 12: Yellow crown, red belt

Colour the crown, its balls, the buckle and the sceptre ball yellow. Colour the belt and shoes red.

  13. Step 13: Purple robe

Colour the robe and sleeves purple, around the beard, the belt and the hands. Your king is done!
