How to Draw a Snowman

Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper draw a big round head. Leave room above for a hat and lots below.

Tip Snow is soft, so your circle does not have to be perfect.

Step 2: The top hat

Draw a flat brim across the head. From it, draw a tall hat up, over, down. Add a band line.

Step 3: Coal eyes, carrot nose

Draw 2 big coal eyes high on the head. From the middle, draw a carrot nose out to the right.

Step 4: A coal smile

Under the nose draw a row of 5 little coal dots that curve up at the ends like a grin.

Tip The middle dot is lowest, the end dots highest.

Step 5: The tummy snowball

Start under the chin, left of the middle. Curve a bigger snowball down and around, up to the chin.

Tip A little wider than the head.

Step 6: The scarf

Draw a scarf band across the chin like a wide smile, closed underneath. Add a round knot on the right.

Step 7: The scarf tail

From under the knot, hang a tail down over the tummy, wider at the bottom. Add 3 fringe lines.

Step 8: Bottom snowball and buttons

Start left of the tummy. Draw the biggest snowball down and round, up to the right. Add 3 coal buttons.

Step 9: Stick arms

Start on each side of the tummy. Draw a thin stick out and up to a round tip, and back.

Tip Fattest at the snow, thinnest at the tip. Add a little twig.

Step 10: Snow on the ground

Start left of the snowman. Draw a long ground line under it to the right side. Add soft snow bumps.

Step 11: Pink cheeks, orange carrot

Add 2 little pink cheeks under the eyes. Colour the carrot nose orange. Leave the snow white.

Step 12: Red scarf and band

Colour the scarf, knot, tail and hat band red.

Step 13: Brown sticks, black hat

Colour the stick arms and twigs brown. Colour the hat black around the red band.
