How to Draw a Snowdrop

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a snowdrop in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bending stalk.

Print

  1. Step 1: The bending stalk

Start low in the middle. Draw a stalk that gets thinner going up, bending over like a hook.

Tip A snowdrop nods: its flower hangs down from the bent tip.

  2. Step 2: A little green cap

On the tip of the stalk, draw a small round cap like a tiny bead, flat side underneath.

  3. Step 3: The inner cup

From the cap, draw a short cup hanging down, with a dip across the bottom. Add an upside-down V.

Tip The little green V mark on the cup is the snowdrop's signature.

  4. Step 4: Two wing petals

From the cap, draw a fat petal swinging out and down left, like a wing. Draw another to the right.

Tip Both wings are longer than the cup.

  5. Step 5: The middle petal

Behind the cup, draw a third petal hanging straight down, so only its round bottom peeks out below.

  6. Step 6: A smaller snowdrop

On the left, draw a shorter bending stalk, then the same cap, cup and petals as before, all smaller.

  7. Step 7: Two long leaves

From the bottom of the tall stalk, draw a long thin leaf leaning up left. Draw another leaning right.

  8. Step 8: Ground and grass

Draw a ground line from near the left edge to near the right. Add a grass tuft near each end.

  9. Step 9: White petals

Colour all the petals and both cups with a white crayon, so they stand out from the paper.

  10. Step 10: Green caps and notches

Colour both caps leaf green, and the tip of each cup below its V mark green too.

  11. Step 11: Green stalks and leaves

Colour the stalks and both long leaves green. Go over your lines and your snowdrops are done!
