How to Draw a Log
Draw a log in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cut end.
Step 1: The cut end
On the left, a little below the middle, draw a tall upright oval as tall as your thumb.
Tip The log is lying down, so we see its round cut end.
Step 2: The long log
From the top and bottom of the oval draw 2 long lines right. Join their ends with a round curve.
Tip Stop near the edge of the paper. The far end is round, like a sausage.
Step 3: Tree rings
Inside the cut end draw 2 smaller ovals, one inside the other, for the tree rings.
Step 4: A knot
A little past the middle of the log draw a small sideways egg for a knot.
Step 5: Bark lines
Draw 4 curved bark dashes along the log, 2 long and 2 short.
Step 6: The ground
Draw a ground line from edge to edge under the log.
Step 7: Two mushrooms
On top of the log, left of the middle, draw 2 little umbrella mushrooms, one bigger than the other.
Tip Each one is a short stem with a round dome cap.
Step 8: Grass tufts
At each end of the ground line draw 2 short grass blades for a tuft.
Step 9: Tan cut end
Go over your lines, then colour the cut end tan.
Step 10: Red mushroom caps
Colour the mushroom caps red. Leave the stems white.
Step 11: Brown log and knot
Colour the log wood brown, then the knot dark brown, and your log is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a log, drawn by you.
