How to Draw a Puffball
Draw a puffball in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big ball.
Step 1: The big ball
Draw a big ball in the middle of your paper, round on top and narrowing to a short flat bottom.
Step 2: 2 big eyes
Halfway down the ball draw 2 big egg eyes, one eye apart. Colour a black dot in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Draw a U smile from under one eye to under the other, with a flat oval cheek at each end.
Step 4: The hole
On the very top of the ball draw a small flat oval for the hole where spores puff out.
Step 5: Bumpy skin
Dot 4 tiny light brown warts near the top of the ball, away from the eyes and the hole.
Step 6: Puffing spores
Right above the hole dot 5 tiny spores in a wobbly line going up, each a little bigger.
Step 7: Drifting spores
Higher up dot 5 more spores spreading out left and right, the highest ones biggest.
Step 8: A tiny puffball
To the right, on the ground, draw a tiny puffball the same shape with a tiny oval hole on top.
Step 9: Ground and grass
Start near the left edge and draw a ground line under both balls to the right edge. Add grass.
Step 10: Cream and pink
Colour both puffballs cream, going around the eyes, cheeks and warts. Colour the cheeks pink. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Grey holes
Colour the 2 holes grey. Go over your lines and you are done!
