How to Draw a Snowcat
Draw a snowcat in 15 steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cab.
Step 1: The cab
In the middle, a little high, draw a wide box with soft top corners. Lay a thin roof on top.
Tip Keep the cab chunky: a snowcat is a cab on huge tracks.
Step 2: The round face
On the right half of the cab draw a BIG circle nearly as tall as the cab.
Step 3: Eyes and smile
In the circle draw 2 round eyes, not touching, each with a dot and a shine. Add a wide smile.
Step 4: Window and roof light
Left of the face draw a tall rounded window. Add a little round light on the roof.
Step 5: Engine and pipe
Behind the cab draw a low engine box with soft top corners. Add a short pipe sticking up from it.
Step 6: The wide track
Under the cab draw a long slab with round ends, wider than the cab. Add tread ticks on top.
Tip The track is WIDE, so the cat floats on deep snow.
Step 7: Track wheels
Inside the track draw a row of 7 small round wheels, evenly spaced from end to end.
Step 8: The blade
In front of the track draw a tall curved blade. Join it to the track with a short arm.
Step 9: The comb drum
Behind the track draw a short arm out to a low rounded drum. Add 4 comb lines along its bottom.
Tip The blade pushes the snow. The drum behind combs it smooth.
Step 10: Snowy ground
Draw the snow line from edge to edge, under the track, with a round mound in front of the blade.
Step 11: Snowflakes
In the sky draw 3 little snowflakes. Each one is 3 short lines crossing in the middle.
Step 12: Rosy cheeks
Colour 2 pink cheeks on the face. Leave the face, the eyes and the snow white.
Step 13: Grey blade, sky window
Colour the blade, arms, drum, roof, pipe and roof light grey. Colour the window sky blue.
Step 14: Red cab and engine
Colour the cab and the engine red, going around the window and the face.
Step 15: Slate track
Colour the wheels grey, then the track dark grey around them. Now your snowcat can groom the slopes!
