How to Draw Snakes and Ladders
Draw snakes and ladders in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the board.
Step 1: The board
Draw a big square on the left of your paper. Leave some room on the right.
Tip Make all 4 sides the same length.
Step 2: Lines down
Draw 3 long lines from the top of the board to the bottom, evenly spaced.
Tip Use the edge of a book to keep them straight.
Step 3: Lines across
Draw 3 long lines from the left side of the board to the right side.
Tip Count them: you have made 16 squares.
Step 4: The snake's head
Near the top right corner of the board, draw an oval head, wider than it is tall.
Tip Rub out the board lines inside the head.
Step 5: A friendly face
On the head, draw 2 big round eyes side by side. Put a dot in each. Draw a smile underneath.
Step 6: Winding body
From under the head, draw a body that winds left, then right, getting thinner, down to a pointed tail.
Tip Rub out the board lines inside the body.
Step 7: Ladder poles
On the left of the board, draw 2 long thin poles side by side, leaning to the right.
Tip They start in the bottom left square and climb 2 rows.
Step 8: Ladder rungs
Between the poles, draw 5 thin bars for the rungs, evenly spaced.
Tip Each rung is as thin as a pole.
Step 9: The die
Beside the board, at the bottom right, draw a square with round corners. Put 5 dots inside.
Tip One dot in the middle and one near each corner.
Step 10: Yellow board
Colour the board yellow, around the snake and the ladder.
Step 11: Green snake
Colour the snake green, head and body. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Brown ladder
Colour the ladder brown. Leave the die white. Your game is ready to play.
