How to Draw a Skateboard

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a skateboard in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the deck top.

Print

  1. Step 1: The deck top

Start on the left. Draw a long dipping line with a round curl at each end. Stop on the right.

Tip Only the last thumb-width at each end curls up, like a shallow hammock.

  2. Step 2: The front edge

From the left curl end, draw a dipping line a finger under the first, ending at the right curl end.

  3. Step 3: The thin side

From the left curl, draw the plank bottom a pinky below the last line, ending at the right curl.

Tip Keep the plank thin and the same thickness all along.

  4. Step 4: Two small wheels

Just under the plank near each end, draw a small round wheel with a tiny nut circle inside.

Tip Keep the wheels small, or it looks like a toy cart.

  5. Step 5: Wheel blocks

From the plank, draw 2 short lines slanting in and down to each wheel, stopping behind it.

Tip The block is a chunky little wedge, wide at the plank and narrow at the wheel.

  6. Step 6: Lightning bolt

In the middle of the deck top, draw 1 fat lightning bolt, nearly as tall as the band.

Tip A fat zigzag with a sharp point at the bottom, not a thin crack.

  7. Step 7: Two stars

Draw a 5-point star on the deck top halfway between the bolt and each end.

  8. Step 8: The ground

Start left of the board. Draw a straight ground line touching both wheels, and stop past the other end.

  9. Step 9: Yellow bolt and stars

Colour the lightning bolt and the 2 stars yellow.

  10. Step 10: Teal top

Colour the bent band on top teal, around the bolt and stars.

  11. Step 11: Wood side, grey nuts

Colour the thin side of the plank wood brown and the 2 nut circles grey.

  12. Step 12: Red wheels, slate blocks

Colour both wheels red around the grey nuts, and the wheel blocks slate grey.
