How to Draw a Shuttlecock
Draw a shuttlecock in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the skirt.
Step 1: The skirt
Low on the page, start 2 lines a hand apart. Draw them up and out, stopping near the top.
Tip The skirt opens wide at the top, like a funnel. Leave room under it for the cork.
Step 2: Feather tips
Join the 2 line tops with a row of 7 round bumps, from the left line to the right line.
Step 3: The band
Across the bottom of the V draw a thin band, a little wider than the gap.
Step 4: The cork
Under the band draw a round bowl like a cup, a little narrower than the band.
Tip The cork is the round bottom the shuttlecock bounces on.
Step 5: Feather shafts
From the band draw 5 straight lines fanning up and out, each stopping at the top of a bump.
Tip The lines fan out like the sticks of a fan.
Step 6: Thread rows
Draw 2 gently curved lines across the skirt, one above the other, from the left edge to the right edge.
Step 7: Two eyes
On the cork draw 2 round eyes a finger apart. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a white shine.
Step 8: The smile
Under the eyes draw a small U smile, starting under one eye and stopping under the other.
Step 9: Ground and sparkles
Draw a ground line under the cork from left to right. Add 3 sparkle stars around the shuttlecock.
Step 10: Pink cheeks, yellow sparkles
Colour a pink oval cheek beside each end of the smile. Colour the sparkles yellow.
Step 11: Cream cork, red band
Colour the cork cream around the face, then the band red. Leave the eyes and feathers white. Done!
