How to Draw Balloons

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw balloons in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the front balloon.

Print

  1. Step 1: The front balloon

A little above the middle, draw one big egg-shaped balloon, taller than it is wide.

  2. Step 2: The knot

Under the balloon, draw a tiny triangle for the knot, pointing down.

  3. Step 3: A happy face

Draw 2 big round eyes with a dot and shine. Add a small U smile under the eyes, and cheeks.

  4. Step 4: Balloon on the left

Up and to the left, draw a second balloon peeking out from behind, a little smaller, with a tiny knot.

  5. Step 5: Balloon on the right

Do the same up and to the right: a third balloon behind, a little smaller, with a tiny knot.

  6. Step 6: Three strings

From each knot, draw a string curving down. All 3 stop at one meeting point low on the paper.

  7. Step 7: Tied together

Where the strings meet, draw a small round tie with a short wiggly string end hanging down.

  8. Step 8: Shines

On the upper left of each balloon, draw a short curved shine line.

  9. Step 9: Peach cheeks

    Colour the cheeks peach.

  10. Step 10: Yellow and blue balloons

Colour the left balloon yellow and the right balloon blue, with their knots.

  11. Step 11: Red balloon

Colour the front balloon and knot red, keeping the eyes white. Go over your lines and you're done!
