How to Draw a Shrimp Boat

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a shrimp boat in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the waves.

Print

  1. Step 1: The waves

Start at the left edge, a bit below the middle. Draw gentle wave bumps right across to the right edge.

  2. Step 2: The hull

On the waves draw a boat: a tall front on the left, a round bottom, and a deck that sags.

Tip Keep the deck well above the waves: the face goes below it.

  3. Step 3: Porthole eyes and smile

On the hull draw 2 round porthole eyes with a black dot in each. Draw a smile under them.

  4. Step 4: The cabin

Near the front draw a tall box cabin on the deck. Add a wide rounded window and a flat roof.

Tip A shrimp boat's cabin sits at the front; the back deck is for nets.

  5. Step 5: The tall mast

Behind the cabin draw 1 fat mast straight up, almost to the top. Add a short crossbar near the top.

  6. Step 6: Two poles

From the mast, above its middle, draw 2 long thin poles slanting up and out like a big V.

Tip When the boat is not fishing, its net poles fold up in a V.

  7. Step 7: Folded nets

Along each pole draw a long thin triangle of net down to the mast. Rule 2 short lines inside each.

  8. Step 8: A seagull

In the sky right of the mast, draw a seagull like a wide M.

  9. Step 9: The sun

In the top left corner draw a small sun circle. Start on its edge and draw 8 short rays.

  10. Step 10: Tan nets, yellow sun

Colour both nets tan, leaving the mesh lines showing. Colour the sun yellow.

  11. Step 11: Sky window, blue sea

Colour the window sky blue, then the sea blue from the waves down to the bottom edge.

  12. Step 12: White hull, teal cabin

Colour the hull white with 2 pink cheeks, and the cabin teal around the window.

    Tip Keep the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Brown mast and poles

Go over your lines. Colour the mast, crossbar, poles and roof brown. Your shrimp boat is heading out!
