How to Draw a Shovel
Draw a shovel in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the blade.
Step 1: The blade
Below the middle draw a big shield blade: a flat top, sides curving in to a short flat bottom.
Tip The pointy tip is pushed into the ground, so the bottom is short and flat.
Step 2: Shaft and collar
On the blade's top draw a small collar box. From it draw 2 close lines up, stopping near the top.
Step 3: A happy face
On the blade draw 2 big round eyes with black dots. Add a wide U smile under them.
Step 4: The grip
Across the tops of the 2 handle lines draw a fat pill lying sideways, wider than the handle.
Step 5: The handle hole
Inside the grip draw a smaller pill the same shape, leaving a thick rim all round. This is the hole.
Step 6: Rosy cheeks
Draw a small oval cheek out beside each end of the smile.
Step 7: A shine
Start high on the left of the blade. Draw one short light curve down the edge, stopping above the cheek.
Step 8: Ground and dirt pile
Draw a ground line left to right along the blade's flat bottom. Add a round dirt hill on the right.
Step 9: Peach cheeks, grey collar
Go over your lines. Colour the cheeks peach and the collar grey.
Step 10: Wood shaft, brown dirt
Colour the shaft light wood brown and the dirt hill dark brown.
Step 11: Red grip, slate blade
Colour the grip rim red. Colour the blade slate grey around the cheeks, leaving the eyes white. All done!
