How to Draw a Shoe Box

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a shoe box in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: box front.

Print

  1. Step 1: Box front

Low on your paper draw a long box, about twice as wide as it is tall.

Tip A shoe box is long and low, like a brick.

  2. Step 2: Lid front

Along the top of the box draw a thin flat strip, a little wider than the box.

Tip The lid is bigger than the box, so it sticks out at both ends.

  3. Step 3: Lid top

From the strip's top corners draw 2 short lines slanting up right. Join them with a line across.

Tip Keep the 2 slanted lines the same length and the same slant.

  4. Step 4: Lid end

Start at the strip's bottom right corner. Slant up right the same way, then go straight up to the top.

  5. Step 5: Box end

Start at the box's bottom right corner. Slant up right, then go straight up and stop under the lid.

Tip Every slanted line on the box leans the same way.

  6. Step 6: Shoe sole

In the middle of the box front draw a long flat sole, with the toe end lifting a little.

Tip The picture shows what is inside the box.

  7. Step 7: Toe cap

Start at the toe tip. Draw a round bump up and over, and stop on the sole.

  8. Step 8: Shoe top

Start on the toe cap. Scoop up to the ankle, dip across, then curve down the heel to the sole.

  9. Step 9: Laces

Start on the scoop. Draw 3 short lace lines slanting down, and stop inside the shoe.

Tip Keep the laces short so they stay inside the shoe.

  10. Step 10: Table and shadow

Draw a table line along the bottom of the box, past both ends. Add a flat curve under it.

  11. Step 11: Grey and tan

Go over your lines. Colour the shadow grey and the box tan, around the shoe.

  12. Step 12: Red lid

Colour the whole lid red: the front strip, the top and the end.

  13. Step 13: Blue shoe

Colour the shoe blue. Leave its toe cap and sole white, and your shoe box is done!

Tip Colour the lightest colours first and the darkest last.
