How to Draw a Trowel
Draw a trowel in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the blade.
Step 1: The blade
Below the middle draw the blade like a big shield: a flat top, sides curving down to a point.
Tip Leave room above the blade for the neck and handle.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Near the top of the blade draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a black dot in each, with a shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile from eye to eye, with a small oval cheek beside each end.
Step 4: The neck
On top of the blade, in the middle, draw a short thin metal neck straight up, joined across the top.
Step 5: The handle
On top of the neck draw a fat handle standing up, with straight sides and rounded corners.
Step 6: The soil mound
Start left of the blade tip. Draw a soil mound up over the tip and down to the right.
Step 7: The ground
Start near the left edge. Draw a flat ground line along the bottom of the mound to the right edge.
Step 8: A little sprout
Right of the mound, start on the ground. Draw a short stem up and stop. Add a leaf each side.
Step 9: Sparkles
Draw 2 little sparkle stars, one on each side of the handle, so the trowel looks shiny and new.
Step 10: Yellow sparkles, pink cheeks
Go over your lines. Colour the sparkles yellow and the cheeks pink.
Step 11: Grey blade, green leaves
Colour the neck and blade grey around the cheeks, leaving the eyes white. Colour the leaves green.
Step 12: Wood handle, brown soil
Colour the handle light brown and the soil mound dark brown. Your trowel is ready to dig!
