How to Draw a Ship in a Bottle
Draw a ship in a bottle in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bottle.
Step 1: The bottle
Across the middle draw a big bottle on its side: a long rounded body left, a thinner neck right.
Tip The neck end stays open for the cork.
Step 2: The cork
At the end of the neck draw a short fat box for the cork, with 2 lines down it.
Step 3: The stand
Under the bottle draw 2 little blocks holding it up, one at each end. Add a flat board under them.
Step 4: The sea inside
Inside the bottle, below the middle, draw a gentle wavy line from the left side to where the neck starts.
Step 5: The little hull
On the sea draw a small hull: a curved deck, a pointed front right, a round bottom under the waves.
Step 6: 2 masts
On the hull draw 2 thin masts standing up: a taller one left and a shorter one right.
Step 7: Sails and flag
Behind each mast draw a puffed square sail. Add a triangle sail in front and a tiny flag on top.
Step 8: Glass shine
On the left end of the bottle draw a short curved shine line, and another short one along the top.
Step 9: Light glass, tan cork
Colour the glass above the sea very light blue around the ship, leaving the sails white. Colour the cork tan.
Step 10: Blue sea, red flag
Colour the sea inside the bottle blue, under the wavy line and round the hull. Colour the flag red.
Step 11: Brown ship and stand
Colour the hull, masts, blocks and stand brown. Go over your lines and your ship in a bottle is done.
