How to Draw a Shepherd
Draw a shepherd in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top, in the middle, draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.
Step 2: The face
Draw 2 small eyes, a nose and a smile. Each ear: start on the head, bulge out, stop on it.
Step 3: Head cloth
Draw a cloth over the head, with a forehead band. From its ends, draw the cloth down to the shoulders.
Tip Rub out the head line under the cloth and band.
Step 4: Neck and long robe
Draw 2 neck lines. Start at the left one, draw a long robe with round shoulders, stop at the right.
Tip The hem is wide, near the bottom of the page.
Step 5: Rope belt
Start on the left edge of the robe at the waist. Draw a line across, stop on the right edge.
Step 6: Long sleeves
Start each long sleeve at the shoulder and armpit, stop at the wrist. Left hangs down, right bends out.
Tip Rub out the robe lines inside the sleeves.
Step 7: Hands
On the left wrist draw a round hand with a thumb bump. On the right draw a fist pointing out.
Step 8: Shepherd's crook
Start on the ground. Draw 2 close lines up through the right fist. Curl the top like a candy cane.
Step 9: Shoes and ground
Under the hem draw a shoe each side with the toe pointing out. Draw a long ground line under them.
Step 10: A little lamb
By the left shoe draw a lamb: a cloud body, round head, legs from the body down to the ground.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, ears, neck and hands peach, with pink cheeks. Leave the eyes and the lamb white.
Step 12: Yellow rope, tan cloth
Colour the rope belt yellow. Colour the head cloth tan, around the ears.
Step 13: Brown robe, black shoes
Colour the robe, sleeves, head band and crook brown, around the belt and hand, then the shoes black.
