How to Draw a Sewing Basket

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a sewing basket in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the basket.

Print

  1. Step 1: The basket

Below the middle draw a wide basket, a soft box a little narrower at the bottom.

  2. Step 2: The rim

Over the top edge draw a long thick band with round ends, a bit wider than the basket.

  3. Step 3: The face

On the front draw 2 big eyes with black dots and shines. Add a U smile and 2 cheeks.

  4. Step 4: Thread spools

Behind the rim on the right draw 2 spools: a flat bar top and bottom, a thinner middle with lines.

  5. Step 5: The pincushion

Behind the rim on the left draw a tomato with a leafy star. Add 2 lines from star to rim.

  6. Step 6: The pins

Start at the tomato's left side. Draw 2 pins slanting up and out, each ending in a round black head.

  7. Step 7: Scissor blades

On the ground right of the basket draw 2 long pointed blades crossing at a black dot.

  8. Step 8: Finger loops

From the dot draw 2 short lines out to the right, each ending in a round finger loop.

  9. Step 9: The weave

Under the face draw 2 smile lines side to side. Add short upright lines between and below them, staggered.

  10. Step 10: Ground line

Start a little in from the left edge. Draw a ground line under everything, stopping before the right edge.

  11. Step 11: Yellow and pink

Go over your lines, then colour the short spool yellow and the cheeks pink. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Green and red

Colour the leafy star green and the tomato red around it.

  13. Step 13: Blue and grey

Colour the tall spool blue and the scissor blades grey.

  14. Step 14: Wood brown

Colour the basket, the rim and the spool ends wood brown, around the face.
