How to Draw a Sequoia
Draw a sequoia in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: pointy top.
Step 1: Pointy top
Near the top, start at a point. Draw 5 bumps sloping down right, stopping just above the middle.
Step 2: Other side
Start at the point again. Draw 5 bumps sloping down left, stopping level with the right side. Join the bottoms.
Step 3: Tall trunk
Start under the leaves. Draw a tall, nearly straight line down, stopping low down. Do both sides.
Step 4: Root flare
From the end of each line, curve out wide into a round root toe near the bottom.
Step 5: Bark grooves
Inside the trunk, draw 3 long lines from under the leaves to near the bottom, leaning out like the edges.
Step 6: Knot and bark
Between the left and middle lines, low down, draw a small egg knot hole. Add 2 short bark dashes.
Step 7: The ground
Start well left of the tree. Draw a long ground line under the roots and stop well right.
Step 8: Grass
Start on the ground beside the roots. Draw 2 short grass blades up on each side.
Step 9: Green leaves
Colour the treetop leaf green, right up to the bumpy edge.
Step 10: Ginger bark
Colour the trunk ginger and the knot hole brown. Go over your lines and your sequoia is done!
