How to Draw a Magnolia
Draw a magnolia in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the middle petal.
Step 1: The middle petal
In the middle of your paper draw one tall petal standing up, pointed at the top and bottom.
Step 2: 2 more petals
Either side draw the same petal leaning out a little, its point lower, tucked behind the middle petal.
Step 3: 2 outer petals
Outside those draw 2 more petals, lower and leaning further out, each tucked behind the one beside it.
Step 4: 2 cupped petals
At the bottom draw 2 small petals curling up round the base, one each side, tucked behind the others.
Step 5: The branch
Start under the flower. Draw a branch down to the bottom left corner and back up, ending under the flower.
Step 6: A side twig
Start halfway down the branch. Draw a thin twig curving out to the right, stopping just below the flower.
Step 7: A bud
On the twig's tip draw a fat bud, a teardrop on its side pointing right, with one curved line inside.
Step 8: A leaf
Start on the branch under the twig. Draw a pointed leaf up to the left, ending on the branch.
Step 9: Petal lines
Draw a line down the middle petal, from near the tip to above the base. Do the 2 beside it.
Step 10: Pink petals
Colour all the petals and the bud pink, stopping at the branch.
Step 11: Brown branch, green leaf
Colour the branch and twig brown and the leaf green. Go over your lines and your magnolia is done!
