How to Draw a Seesaw

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a seesaw in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: stand.

Print

  1. Step 1: Stand

Below the middle of your paper, draw a triangle standing on the ground. Add a line across near the bottom.

  2. Step 2: Pivot

On the point of the triangle, draw a small circle for the pin the plank turns on.

  3. Step 3: Plank

Through the pivot, draw a long plank tilting up on the left and down to the ground on the right.

  4. Step 4: Seats

At each end, start on the plank. Draw a small seat pad up, across, and down to the plank.

  5. Step 5: Handles

Just inside each seat, draw a T handle, a short post up from the plank with a bar on top.

  6. Step 6: Ground

Draw a long ground line under the stand, from edge to edge of your paper.

  7. Step 7: Grass

Under the high end, draw 2 little tufts of grass on the ground, 3 short blades each.

  8. Step 8: Sun

In the top right corner, draw a small round sun with 8 short rays round it.

  9. Step 9: Cloud

In the top left, draw a small puffy cloud, 4 bumps up and over, then 2 shallow bumps underneath.

  10. Step 10: Yellow sun, white cloud

Colour the sun yellow and the cloud white.

  11. Step 11: Wooden seats, red plank

Colour the seats and handles wood brown, then the plank red around the pin.

  12. Step 12: Grey stand

Colour the stand and the pin grey. Go over your lines and your seesaw is done!
