How to Draw the Acropolis
Draw the Acropolis in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rocky hill.
Step 1: The rocky hill
Start low on the left. Draw a bumpy hill up, flat across the top, and bumpy down to the right.
Tip The flat top is where the temple will stand.
Step 2: Two wide steps
On the flat top draw 2 wide flat steps, one on the other. The top one is a little shorter.
Step 3: The beam
High above the steps, leaving room for tall columns, draw a long flat box for the beam.
Step 4: The pointed roof
On the beam draw a wide low triangle, a little wider than the beam, with a smaller triangle inside it.
Step 5: Two end columns
Under each end of the beam draw a fat column down to the top step. Give it a flat cap.
Step 6: Four more columns
Draw 4 more fat columns between them, evenly spaced, each with its own cap. That makes 6.
Step 7: Column lines
Draw one thin line down the middle of each column, from under the cap to near the bottom.
Step 8: Hill steps and ground
Draw 2 rock step lines across the hill, from side to side. Draw a ground line from edge to edge.
Step 9: Olive trees
Low on each side of the hill draw a bumpy tree top, then a trunk down to the ground.
Step 10: The sun
Draw a sun high on the right with short rays all round.
Step 11: Cream columns, yellow sun
Colour all 6 columns, their caps and the small roof triangle cream. Colour the sun yellow.
Step 12: Grey stone, tan hill
Colour the steps and beam stone grey. Colour the roof and hill tan, around the cream triangle and trees.
Step 13: Green trees
Colour the tree tops green and the trunks brown. Your Acropolis is done!
