How to Draw a Gold Mine
Draw a gold mine in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the hill.
Step 1: The hill
Start low on the left. Draw a small bump, a tall hill, a small bump. Stop low on the right.
Tip Make both small bumps the same height.
Step 2: Ground line
Draw a ground line along the bottom of the hill, from edge to edge.
Step 3: Rock cracks
Start on the hill's edge and draw a short zigzag crack into the rock. Do one high, one low.
Tip Cracks show the hill is made of hard rock.
Step 4: Two posts
In the middle of the hill draw 2 tall thin posts standing on the ground, leaning in at the top.
Step 5: Top beam
Across the tops of the posts draw a long thin box, poking out past both posts.
Tip The wooden frame holds up the roof of the mine.
Step 6: The cart
Between the posts draw a tub like a flowerpot: wide at the top, narrow at the bottom.
Tip Leave a gap between the tub and the ground.
Step 7: Rim and wheels
Draw a line across the tub near its top. Add a thin wheel each side, down to the ground.
Tip You see the wheels edge on, so they look like thin blocks.
Step 8: A heap of gold
On top of the cart draw a bumpy heap of gold. Start and stop on the tub's top edge.
Step 9: The rails
From under each wheel draw a thin rail slanting down and out, towards the bottom of your paper.
Step 10: Four sleepers
Draw 4 flat planks across under the rails, each one longer than the last. Hop over the rails.
Step 11: Gold and hill
Colour the heap of gold yellow. Colour the hill light brown, around the posts and the top beam.
Step 12: Brown wood
Colour the 2 posts, the top beam and the 4 planks dark brown.
Step 13: Grey cart and rails
Colour the cart and the 2 rails dark grey. Colour the 2 wheels light grey.
Step 14: Dark mine
Colour the doorway black, around the cart, the wheels and the gold. Your gold mine is done!
