How to Draw a Shooting Star

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a shooting star in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big star.

Print

  1. Step 1: Big star

Up and right of the middle, draw a big 5-point star, as big as your hand, in one go.

  2. Step 2: Two big eyes

In the star's middle, draw 2 BIG egg eyes a small gap apart, each with a black dot and shine.

  3. Step 3: Big smile

Leave a little gap under the eyes, then draw a wide U smile from eye to eye.

  4. Step 4: Rosy cheeks

Under the outside of each eye, beside the smile, draw a small sideways oval cheek.

  5. Step 5: Top tail streak

Start halfway along the bottom edge of the star's left point. Sweep a line down to the bottom-left corner.

  6. Step 6: Bottom tail streak

Start halfway down the left edge of the star's bottom-left point. Draw another line down to the same corner.

  7. Step 7: Middle streamer

From the dip between those 2 points, draw a line down the middle of the tail, stopping at the corner.

  8. Step 8: Twinkles

In the empty sky, draw 3 little 4-point twinkles: top left, top right, and right below the star.

  9. Step 9: Yellow star and twinkles

Colour the star yellow, going round the face. Colour the 3 twinkles yellow too.

    Tip Keep the eyes white.

  10. Step 10: Orange and pink tail

Colour the top tail ribbon orange, and the bottom ribbon and the cheeks pink. Your shooting star is done!
