How to Draw a Sea Lion
Draw a sea lion in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big smooth head.
Step 1: Big smooth head
Near the top, draw a big soft blob head, wider than tall, with fat cheeks low down.
Tip The head is half the animal. Make it big.
Step 2: Nose patch
Low on the face, draw a small wide oval. On its top edge, draw a black triangle nose.
Step 3: Ear flaps
Low on each side of the head, draw a tiny ear flap pointing down.
Tip Sea lions have ear flaps. Seals do not.
Step 4: Two big eyes
Halfway down the head, draw 2 big round eyes, a small gap apart. Add black dots with shines.
Step 5: Smile and whiskers
From the nose, draw a line down to a w smile. Draw 3 whiskers each side, stopping inside the oval.
Step 6: Pear body
From each cheek, draw a big C down and out, wider than the head. They meet under the tummy.
Step 7: Two flippers
Start on each shoulder. Draw a smooth paddle down to a fat round tip, and back up over the tummy.
Step 8: Chest patch
On the tummy, between the flippers, draw a big egg shape for the chest.
Step 9: Tail flippers
Start on the right flipper. Draw 2 small round bumps out to the right, back under the flipper.
Step 10: The rock
Draw a low rock line from the left edge to the flipper, then from the tail to the right edge.
Tip The rock is so big it runs off your paper.
Step 11: Tan chest, grey rock
Colour the chest patch and the nose patch tan. Colour the rock grey, down to the bottom.
Step 12: Brown sea lion
Colour the head, ear flaps, body, flippers and tail brown, around the tan patches. Keep the eyes white.
